Blog 4- Mind Tools

Blog 4 – Mind Tools
The title of the article I chose was “How to Be Organized” located in Time Management.  This article is asking the question how much time you actually spend searching for something that you have misplaced. The time that you have used in searching for what you have misplaced you could have used that time elsewhere.  Whether you were looking for files or a simple email we all need to get organized.  Being organized helps our lives run more smoothly.
I will definitely be organized in my classroom. I think this is extremely important in running your classroom efficiently. I like to think that I am pretty organized but I know there are more things that I can do to improve my organization skills.

Blog 3- Laptop Buying Guide

I am looking to purchase a laptop for home use. This purchase will be extremely helpful when I begin my teaching career. Purchasing a laptop for home use will allow me to work on presentations for my classroom and also work in the grade book which may cut down on some time spent at the school after school hours. The laptop I need to look for needs to have 2GB to 4GB of RAM it also needs to have 250GB or larger HDD, a DVD optical drive and a 14-16 in display screen.
I am leaning towards the midsize laptop. The midsize has all of the requirements I am searching for in a laptop. I am looking at the Pentium dual core CPU.
The laptop I have found at Best Buy which I have decided I am going to purchase is the Toshiba- Satellite Laptop. The cost of the laptop is $499.99 which is well within my price range.

Daily News

This article is about a 31 year old woman named Jaycee Duggard who was kidnapped and held captive for 18 years. Philip and Nancy Garrido kidnapped Jaycee Duggard when she was only 11 years old. The Garrido’s held Jaycee in a hidden compound behind their home in California. Jaycee was wearing her favorite shirt and a butterfly ring that her mother had given her the day she was kidnapped. Throughout the 18 years that she was held captive she continued to hold onto that ring given to her from her mother in the hopes that one day they would be reunited. Jaycee gave birth to 2 children while she was held captive. Although she was only 14 at the time she gave birth to her first child she says that she was beautiful and she would never be alone again. She loved her babies and vowed that she would not let anything happen to them. In 2009, Jaycee Duggard was finally rescued after countless mishaps by law enforcement officials. The Garrido’s have since been sentenced by the courts. Jaycee has written a memoir called “Stolen Life” which will be released on July 12, 2011.
I feel that this story will touch everyone, not just parents. This was an amazing story and I always get emotional when reading about children who have had to endure this type of treatment from predators. I watched her 2 hour special last night and Jaycee Duggard is an amazing woman who has overcome tremendous obstacles in the past. She is a bright, beautiful young woman who has an incredible future ahead of her. She brings me hope and I pray that she does the same for you as well if you look into her story.
